My FANTASTIC first working day at Jimmy Woo (by Loulou)
Feb 14, 2012
It was Saturday and I was supposed to hang out with some friends, watching video's, having lunch, anything but going outside cause the streets were covered in white and the temperature was to die for. Minus 20 or something.
Anyway to make a long story short... Don't ask me why and don't ask me how, but we ended up having a spontanious crazy night in Paris. During our ridiculous trip I met this amazing person who had the genius idea of offering me a job as a waitress at the nicest, coolest, luxurious club in Amsterdam; Jimmy woo. And so one week later, yesterday actually, totally unexpected I stood there, with a tray in my hand, serving the vip tables on this amazing party called Fantastic. I wore my best push up bra and they gave me this tiny little strepless dress to wear.
The club hadn't even opened it's doors yet and a crowd was already flowing inside to occupy the dancefloor under a ceiling of party balloons. DJ Mellymel provided us with some warming up songs, and drinks were served by smoking hot barguys wearing white blouses, golden ties and a huge American-flag-colored-Abraham-Lincoln hat. Which by the way I had to wear myself as well.
The VIP tables were decorated with fresh pop corn and soda. And lets not forget the bottles of Russian standards vodka that were being popped. The perfect situation for some beautiful people to entertain themselves.
And I? I had to work. In a short time I had to learn the numbers of the tables, how the cash register works, running in the middle of chaos with a tray full of glasses above my head and handling silly men who can't come up with better opening lines than "Hey nice hat, can I borrow it?" And "Hey by the way what's your number?"
But so far so good until... My favourite DJ (best DJ in the world) the Flexican started spinning some records. Everybody ran downstairs in the other dance area, where the lights on the sealing give you a Justin Timberlake's "Rock Your Body" musicvideo experience. I couldn't help it, my body spontaniously started dancing as soon as his music came out of the speakers and the next thing there was glass on the ground. oops.
I think people were willing to take the risk not being able to wake up Monday morning to go to work, cause the party was too hot to leave. At 4 in the morning we ended the night with some good old Whitney Houston songs in honour of this great woman we lost and it was a perfect ending of a perfect night. I'd say Fantastic is an understatement.
If you were there you felt it. If you weren't you missed out.
